Beginning September 1 1995

When the first train traveled through Crawford Notch 120 years ago, a legend in the annals of railroading was born.

While traveling from the historic North Conway station to the Crawford Notch Depot, the Crawford Notch train will pass through some of the northeast's finest natural scenery - sheer bluffs, steep ravines, cascading brooks and streams, wide mountain vistas, and across the famed Frankenstein Trestle and Willey Brook Bridge, both engineering marvels of the early 20th century.

The Crawford Notch train will be powered by two FP-9 diesel engines (formerly owned and operated by VIA Rail, Canada) and will depart the North Conway train station at 10:30am daily, September 2 - October 9, 1995 (advance reservations are being accepted for these dates). The roundtrip is expected to take 5 hours and the ticket price will be $29.95 for adults, and $14.95 for children (4-12 years) and $3.00 for children under 4 years of age.
