I was so excited to collaborate with MUTHA on limited edition Mother's Day packaging this year.

TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF.

I’m Blair Breitenstein, known as @blairz on Instagram. I'm an NYC-based illustrator, primarily using pastels and markers to draw women with quirky, stylized features. In addition to collaborations with fashion and beauty brands, I sell original artwork and prints on my website. Right now, my top priority is soaking up precious moments with my 9 month old baby girl. I was so excited to collaborate with MUTHA on limited edition Mother's Day packaging this year. The project proposal popped up in my inbox a few weeks after I got my positive pregnancy test, which felt like kismet. The packaging is going live on my first Mother’s Day as a mama, so this year I will have two things to celebrate!

If any line of work needs inspo, it’s Motherhood. What type of mother inspires you?

I’m especially inspired by all the moms in their first few months of postpartum, navigating the seemingly endless hours of feeding, hormonal roller coaster and nagging questions of whether you’re doing enough as a parent. It is so intense, but special. Standing ovation for all the postpartum moms out there, you’re doing great!

How do you like to MUTHA yourself and ensure you still have some ‘me’ time?

I feel lucky that my husband starts the morning with our baby Margot. At first, I felt guilty for not running to her room immediately each morning. But, I have accepted that I am a better mom when I get the extra sleep, not to mention the opportunity to mainline some coffee in peace!

A better world starts with better moms. How can the Motherhood community improve?

I think we should stop telling pregnant women they will never sleep again. It’s not helpful (even if it might be true)!
